World we Dare to Imagine Part 3
“Social media is what’s wrong with the world today!” We’ve all heard this statement from our grandparents and we always roll our eyes and dismiss them. But what if they were right? Social media grants people access to easily stay in touch with friends and family, communicate their voices around the world, and share funny cat videos. However, major social media platforms have become hubs for negativity, such as violent or harmful content, to be spread globally. Project Positive Engagement And Creative Expression (or PEACE) hopes to combat negativity in social media by encouraging major companies to promote PEACE over hate. PEACE would work alongside other major companies, such as news companies and popular influencers to promote content that promotes the positive aspects of the world, such as wholesome videos, scenic views of nature, or updates on how the world is improving.
I am passionate about the PEACE project because people consume so much negativity on a daily basis, but PEACE gives people the opportunity to see the good parts of life. Having so much harmful and depressing content accessible through social media is especially damaging for the younger generations who will consume all this hate and become more pessimistic of what life has to offer. The PEACE project hopes to combat this by encouraging people to be happier in general.
The PEACE project is unique because its objective is not to sell a single product, but instead sell the concept of peace and happiness to social media outlets. Similar to the Got Milk? advertising campaign, the PEACE project aims to sell a general concept, rather than a singular item or brand. While all the other organizations are prioritizing monetization, the PEACE project aims to help improve mental health with no monetary objective.
Because PEACE is more adjacent to a concept than an actual product, it does not require a lot of funding from Anima Mundi Development Partners to grow. All Anima Mundi would need to do is give enough money to get the ball rolling until the PEACE project can begin to snowball itself. It is a very self-sufficient organization that just needs to grab the attention of the public in order to grow. Once it is recognized and is partnered with other people/companies, the PEACE project won’t need much more funding than having a team ensure that PEACEful content is being promoted online. Just because negativity is marketable doesn't mean that it has to be at the forefront of everyone's mind!
